Biography

As an artist, I am interested in the interpretation of the natural world, the way that landscapes change over time and how these changes can be reflected in painting. In my recent paintings I have focused on the cyclical nature of time, whether it's the shifting seasons, the ebb and flow of the tides, or the gradual erosion of a coastline. Through the use of colour, light and texture, I aim to convey the sense of movement and transformation that characterises the natural world. By using layers of translucent paint which allow shadows and shapes to be partly revealed, I try to record the ongoing process of change and adaptation that defines the landscape with a sense of what came before.

Louise Body (B.1974) BA Hons Fine Art.

Currently lives and works in Hastings on the South coast of the UK.

Louise studied Painting at Nottingham Trent University and graduated in 1996. Her love of painting began as a child, both her grandmothers were artists and Louise’s parents both went to art school so being an artist was something that was encouraged when growing up. After studying, Louise’s career took a detour into the world of design. In 2003 she set up her own company, designing and producing wallpaper and fabric. In March 2020, at the start of the first lockdown, Louise made the decision to leave the world of design to paint full-time.
